Charles was into Architecture in 1927, but later on got interested in furniture designing he was good in problem solving. Ray studied art in the 1930s . Charles and Ray met at Cranbrook , After getting married they moved to Los Angeles  to manufacture less priced molded plywood furniture , Charles called “ the most of the best to the most for the least” Adding Ray’s sophisticated graphic textiles which designate strong independent design . They manufactured such low cost furniture of plastic, plywood and metal. These were well known couple designers for their modern furniture. Their biggest client was Herman Miller Furniture, which has become a classic design.
But later in 1950s Eamese looked more upon communications than furniture.
Creating films, multimedia and exhibitions to show their ideas, from puppet show to timelines and games, animations, he realized that his idea could be education by entertainment and films. They became the most important contributions to American culture in that time. This helped to popularize computers and later had some drawbacks too.
After Charles death in 1978, Ray set up all collectives in to the library of congress. (Charles and Ray: The Architect and the painter, 2012 , http://www.pbs.org/wnet/americanmasters/episodes/charles-ray-eames-the-architect-and-the-painter/essay-a-short-biography-of-charles-and-ray-eames/1930/)
